My experience interviewing with Producer Alexis Sallee (TCF Recipient) for the INDIGEFI “Native Artist” podcast series was great.

For my art career, I’ve been researching the means of Yup’ik culture and traditions; and how that Yup’ik knowledge reflects who I am and what I create. As a two-spirit person, defining my identity was and is an important factor in my art career. As a Yuk living in Southwest, Alaska, it is a struggle to find support within the community that strongly takes Western influences.

Sharing about my experience through the interview gave me a sense of reassurance with the things that are going well in my life and my art career.

The Native Artist podcast takes a deep dive into the stories of Indigenous artists, spanning a wide range of artistic disciplines. From directors and writers to carvers and fashion designers, artists share their unique stories and perspectives on navigating these fields while reclaiming Native identity.
