Project: Color of Justice 2019
Grantee: Alaska Native Justice Center
Story by: Sara Martinchick, CIRI Descendant
The Color of Justice program was a great opportunity to learn about the justice field. I got the opportunity to learn about laws and statutes in the state of Alaska. Judge Washington gave a presentation on what it means to be a judge. It was interesting listening at all the different things that go into being a judge and what kind of opportunities judges have. We got to do hands-on activities like jeopardy which was really fun. One of my favorite parts of the program was the mentor jet portion where we were able to meet with all sorts of people that work in and around the justice field. I enjoyed my experience with the Color of Justice program.
