TCF Proud Emily Magara
Rooted in Family, Grounded in Purpose
Carrying forward her CIRI lineage, caring for others, and shaping a future for her children.
Emily’s story shows what becomes possible when determination meets family support. Her journey reflects steady strength across the TCF community: caring for others, honoring where you come from, and shaping a path forward with purpose.
At 26 years old, Emily Magara lives in Western New York with her husband and four children. She is a proud CIRI descendant through her father and grandmother and holds that connection close. Her relationship with The CIRI Foundation began more than a decade ago when her oldest brother applied for scholarships in 2013. His path introduced her to opportunities she now continues in her own way.
Finding Her Calling in Nursing
Emily always hoped to return to school. While raising her young family, she realized that waiting for the ideal moment might mean never beginning. She chose to take the first step.
“I knew that if I wanted to build a better future for my children, I had to take the leap,” she says.
Now in her third semester of nursing school, with one to go, Emily is thriving. She loves caring for others and takes pride in her progress. “Without The CIRI Foundation, I would not have been able to afford school on a single income. Their support allowed me to focus on my studies and clinicals, which have been the most meaningful part of my journey.”
Each clinical shift reassures her that she chose the right field. Caring for patients, learning new skills, and supporting her team confirm a purpose she long felt but had not yet fully named.
Values That Guide Her Path
Emily’s identity as a CIRI descendant grounds her and shapes the values she brings to school, work, and family life. Community, respect, and perseverance guide her through long days and challenging moments. “Success is not just an individual achievement. It is something that lifts others, too,” she says.
When she needs strength, she thinks of the generations before her and the lessons they passed down. Time spent outside, prayer, and quiet reflection help her stay centered and connected to her true self.
Balancing Family, Faith, and Her Future
Emily’s life moves continuously between caring for others at home and caring for others in her training. Classes, clinicals, and four young children fill her days, yet she describes the balance as meaningful rather than overwhelming.
“Balancing both roles, mother and student, is not easy, but it is fulfilling. My children are my greatest motivation, and everything I do is for their future.”
Her journey reflects dedication, love, and steady commitment. She keeps moving forward, even when the path requires more of her than she expected.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Emily hopes her journey encourages others, especially parents, caregivers, and fellow CIRI descendants, to take steps toward their goals.
“Never underestimate the strength of your identity. You belong in every space you step into, and your background is your power. Ask questions, seek mentors, and share your story. You never know who it might inspire.”
She looks forward to staying connected with TCF through opportunities that bring alumni together and support future students. “TCF has helped me stay grounded in my culture and confident in my goals,” she reflects.
In Her Words
“Because of The CIRI Foundation, I was able to follow my dream of becoming a nurse, provide for my family, and continue the cycle of giving back to my community.”
Three words to describe her journey: Courageous. Purposeful. Evolving.
